Takayama Festival is the collective name for the spring Sanno Festival and autumn Hachiman Festival. The spring Takayama Festival (Sanno Festival) is an annual festival held on April 14 and 15. The festival float parade, mechanical puppet performances, traditional procession in ceremonial attire, and a night festival with floats adorned with 100 lanterns each parading through the town — the spectacle of this far-reaching historical pageant is well worth seeing.
