Ajimano, a place connected to Emperor Keitai, is also famous for its deep relationship with the Manyoshu. In addition to a statue of Emperor Keitai with hanagatami (flower basket), you can see poem monuments and learn about poems from the Manyoshu. Some of the poems exchanged between major Manyoshu poets Otomo Yakamochi and Otomo Ikenushi are also set in Echizen City and Takefu. Echizen no Sato Ajimano-en was developed in connection with these. Within the garden, you can appreciate Manyoshu plants along with seasonal flowers including spring cherry blossoms.
