'Historic Site Odoi' spreading on the west side of the precinct built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi is a place where you can feel the beauty of each season, and momiji (maple) trees, like plums beloved by Sugawara no Michizane, are deeply connected, with about 350 growing wild throughout the Odoi area. They have remained for 350 to 400 years old, vividly coloring the seasons as if remembering Sugawara's divine virtues. The contrast between the vermillion-painted Uguisubashi over the Kamiyagawa River and the fresh greenery is magical.
