A celebration is held by setting up Hanamido in front of the main hall (April 1-10). Gotan-e (Buddha's Birthday Celebration) is also called Kanbutsu-e, but since cherry blossoms are also in full bloom in this season, it is widely loved by the name 'Hana Matsuri (Flower Festival)'. Pouring sweet tea over the small newborn Buddha enshrined in the Hanamido is derived from a legend that when Sakyamuni was born, nine dragons poured pure water from the heavens for his birth bath. Sweet rain.
