Famous as one of Japan's Three Great Float Festivals alongside Kyoto's Gion Festival and Gifu's Takayama Festival. The hikiyama floats are called 'moving museums,' captivating visitors with their architectural beauty, ornate metalwork, and gorgeous curtains. The highlight is 'Children's Kabuki,' a tradition dating from the Edo period in which young boy actors in brilliant costumes perform on the hikiyama stage. Paid viewing gallery seats are available for the dedicated kabuki performance at Hachimangu Shrine on April 15.
