Hagi flourished as the castle town of the Mori clan's 360,000 koku domain during the Edo period, burned with the passion of the Meiji Restoration, and retains a quiet appearance. About 1,400 hina dolls carefully passed down from the Edo period to the present are displayed at cultural property facilities and other locations. In Hagi, even after the calendar changed to the new calendar, it has been customary to celebrate the Doll Festival on April 3, but events celebrating Hassaku on August 1 are also popular, and clay dolls known as Hassaku hina are also displayed. Enjoy the changes in hina dolls that have been carefully inherited throughout Hagi's history.
