The Nipro Hachiko Dome is one of Japan's largest wooden domes, built using approximately 25,000 locally-grown Akita cedars, aged 60 years or more. Since the site was originally a model forest managed by the former forestry office, the cherry blossom avenue remaining at the front of the dome is famous as a flower-viewing destination, visited by many people for hanami and strolling each spring. Various trees also stand at the back of the dome, offering light nature walks.
