The area around Satomi Park is called Kounodai and is a historic place that was the center of politics and culture in Shimosa Province. The park was developed as a citizens' resting place to commemorate this venerable old battlefield. About 300 cherry trees are in the park, known as a famous cherry blossom spot in Ichikawa. The view overlooking the Edo River from the elevated area is wonderful. There is also a rose garden in the fountain plaza.
