Gion Park is home to about 700 beautiful double-petal (Yaezakura) cherry trees. Following the Somei Yoshino blooming throughout the city, the vivid pink of the Yaezakura colors the park. During the cherry blossom festival, the park is illuminated by lanterns at night.
