The 'Seki Festival' colors the spring of Seki City, the City of Blades. The highlight, the Andon Mikoshi Contest, features over 20 large and small portable shrines created by local neighborhood associations, children's groups, and businesses parading through the night streets, competing in their brilliance. During the day, parades and stage events are held, along with the procession of the prefectural-designated Important Cultural Properties — Ura-jima float and Kamo float — and the classical performing art 'Douji-yako,' which has been held at Kasuga Shrine for over 400 years. The city center is transformed into a sea of festivity.
