Kaminoyama Castle, at the southernmost stronghold of the Mogami clan, is a magnificent castle rising over Tsukioka and Tenjinmori, praised as a 'Famous Castle of Dewa.' Today it serves as a folk museum. About 100 trees including Somei-yoshino bloom in the surrounding area and Tsukioka Park. The combination of 'castle, cherry blossoms, and the remaining snow of Mt. Zao' is extremely popular among locals and tourists alike. Visitors can also soak in the on-site foot bath while viewing the blossoms.
