Takinomiya Park has been a beloved representative park of Niihama City for over 60 years since its opening. Occupied by a hill area called Kaneko-yama, in olden times during the Tensho era (1573-1593), it was the residence of Kaneko Bingo no Kami Motoie, and was also a historic battlefield during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Shikoku expedition. Within the grounds, about 1,500 Yoshino cherry, Yoko cherry, and mountain cherry trees are planted in total. Hanami Plaza is located in the western part of Oike Pond, and in spring, it bustles with crowds of hanami visitors.
