Starting with 27 'Shiogama Sakura,' designated as national natural monuments, about 200 cherry trees including Yoshino cherries and double weeping cherries color spring. The characteristic of Shiogama Sakura is that the pistils transform into 2 or 3 leaves, the flower stalks are short, the petals number about 35-50, and they have vertical wrinkles with serrated tips of 2-5 teeth.
