The Innagi Shrine Spring Grand Festival is held at Innagi Shrine every April. Following an ancient custom in which local young men dove naked through broken ice into Kagami Pond to catch crucian carp by hand as an offering when Ishikawa Sukune visited on the old New Year, dozens of young men in sacred-sake-purified loincloths still perform this ritual today — flinging carp and mud at onlookers. It is said that if mud lands on you, you will enjoy good health for the year.
