Nagase Shrine, said to have been founded in the latter half of the 6th century, is located in the area of Yahata overlooking the clear stream of the Kamogawa river, and is affectionately known locally as 'Hachiman-sama.' The spring festival called 'Kamijo Matsuri' is also known as the 'Dango Festival' because it is held around the time when signs for sasa-dango appear in front of confectionery shops.
