'Bungo Shibori' is an indigo dyeing technique that originated in Oita (Tsurusaki area) and spread nationwide during the Edo period. It had become a phantom indigo dyeing, but dye researcher Hiroko Ando (from Oita City) revived it in modern times. Ando and members who received her guidance formed the 'Bungo Yusokai'. They engage not only in creating works but also in popularization activities, and were certified as the first registered cultural property of Oita City. Works of 'Bungo Yusokai' will be exhibited in the Noh theater lobby colored by early summer greenery.
