Gokoku Shrine is a Shokon Shrine founded in 1875 (Meiji 8), with its grounds situated on the mid-slope of Shoei, a small hill in the central part of Oita City. It is a spot where you can take in Oita City's coastal industrial zone. It is also known for its 'cherry tree row' with about 500 cherry trees. It ranked 3rd in the 'My Selected 100 Sights of Oita' survey conducted by Oita City in 2006.
