In Taisho 13 (1924), over 100 cherry trees were planted to commemorate the establishment of the waterworks. Later, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its establishment, in order to make Manchidani a distinctive cherry blossom spot, more than 260 cherry saplings centered on Japan's native cherries such as mountain cherries and Sato cherries were transferred from Mr. Sasabe's training forest in Takedao, etc., under the guidance of cherry researcher Mr. Shintaro Sasabe, and have been cultivated. *Open to the public only during the 'Koshimizu Water Purification Plant Sakura Walk-through' period.
