As the goeika (Buddhist hymn) goes, 'In spring, flowers; in summer, mandarin oranges; in autumn, chrysanthemums; always the wondrous Dharma flower mountain,' this temple is known as a famous spot for cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn. Many cultural properties exist including the stone treasure pagoda and Okunoin Kaisando, and especially famous is the 'Portrait of Prince Shotoku and Tendai High Monks' designated as a national treasure. While listening to the distant cries of small birds, away from urban hustle, why not spend a relaxed time.
